This is Luis Costa. We actually met in a meeting to set up this very website. He already spoke fantastic English, but during that meeting he mentioned he wanted to brush up on it — so we immediately booked a trial class. One year later, we’re still working together, and we genuinely have a great time every week.
Conveniently for me, Luis is also a real expert in Google Analytics and SEO (Search Engine Optimization). So quite often during his classes, he ends up giving me ideas on how to improve my online strategy. But here’s the interesting part: explaining these concepts to me in English is actually excellent practice for him. It’s real, practical language use based on something he genuinely knows and cares about.
In other words — I learn from him, and he learns from teaching.
This is something I always encourage in my classes. I love when students prepare short presentations on topics they’re passionate about. Over the years I’ve had everything from engineering concepts to fitness routines, marketing strategies, and even one of my favourites — Jorge de la Águila’s talk on frogs in Spain.
Everyone benefits from this exchange of ideas.
Teaching isn’t just for the teacher — it’s one of the most powerful ways for students to reinforce vocabulary, build confidence, and practise English in a meaningful, memorable way.
Sometimes the best way to learn… is to teach.
